This morning i had offered to get up at around 0745 to take Phil and the kids to the Oz kick which is Aussie rules AFL. We got there around 0830 and then in commenced at 0900, prior to the start the boys just kicked balls around and had a general laugh.
It seems to be a very good program, they had a rotation of about 8 activities, in the region of 10 minutes on each with a game at the end. The activities were basic learning to tackle, hand ball passes where they must punch the ball to pass, kicking practice and other skill related activities. The final 20 minutes was a game, Will in one game, Mike in another. Will really is quite the sportsman, he played well and even argued with the ref, funny for us but he was told it was not good and not to be repeated!! Mike was in goal for a while playing lightsabres before being put as forward and enjoying commanding the team as to what they should be doing. The finish was marked by a bbq, very typically aussie.
The plan after was to go to Hawthorn, a Melbourne suburb east of the city where there was a pretty nice bakery and a shop selling products that Tantine likes. Suzie was at work so we had all of us in the rental, with the plan to meet her after she finished and take lunch. We took lunch in a french patisserie down the road and met Suzie there. It was rather tasty, and very typically french in what was there, anyway as usual the cakes were to die for and many were brought back home for tea.
Next stop was take the rental back via the house for a quick cuppa. I checked it was empty, checked again and somehow we would discover later that evening one of Phil’s bags was still in there, damn. We dined on lovely steak that night and i had an early night for once!!!
