Woke up, rode with Phil, died, came home.
I’ll elaborate a little bit. I had said to Phil I was happy to go on a ride, forgetting how my fitness has disappeared since the Colitis. Anyway we left around 11am and cycled via the bike shop and onto a trail called the Yarra Trail (I think). It pretty much goes into Melbourne from around 30k out, we started about 20k out as the crow flies.
Not a bad start, not always easy but stunning scenery and worth the ride, loads of bleeding hills and still some jetlag and the fact it was 25 degrees. We managed to get within about 8km of the town which was pretty good as its so windy that actual cycling distance to centre is more like 30km, also it was the picnic day and we had planned an early dinner so turning around at 1pm made good sense. I was well up for carrying on in but my brain reminded me i would die so I agreed with Phil (rather relievedly) to start the return leg.
We hit more roads on the way home, my preferred riding as i feel more motivated in a direct route, not only that but you can chicken out and hop on a train. It was a good return leg, passing the most amazing residential street with a road that made Surrey’s look first rate. Anyway we bumped into an Aussie cyclist who was every so friendly and directed us back on a separate loop to that which we came. It was a good ride…. until……. the legs said stop, the body said stop and the brain agreed. I had to walk a good 500 metres dying until i rejoined Phil who encouraged me on (3 km from home at this point and to be fair this was the penultimate hill). So a last bit of downhill and a slight climb to their house and we are home, around 4 hours riding and I was DEAD. Suzie kindly gave me chocolate and water and slowly i recovered.
So having returned around 3 i was still knackered after a shower and many cups of tea so dinner out was a rather lazy time for me, but delicious. We had chicken from the roast chicken shop and some bits from home. It’s cool over here, lots of parks have BBQ’s and play area’s so everyones a winner, was all good fun and finished with Michael having his Batman cake in the shape of a number 5! Had a slight logistics problem to and from the park but i walked back with Phil whilst Suzie dropped Gu and the kids home and came and collected us.
Oh and i have a confession, I dropped your camera Dave, its absolutely fine, just has a scratch on one corner, i think really you should have supplied it in a case, but still its enjoying its’ holiday.
Je suis fatigue, bonne nuit.
