Day 36

Wednesday 30 March 2011

One had planned to drive into town to park and have a general look around, decided against it as so expensive to park. Bussed and trained it as before and headed via the so called touristy Elizabeth Street to lunch on Lygon Street. Was something of a walk once we had detoured via a planted stereo, Victoria Market, and back up to Lygon. Lunch was nice, usual kind of place, typical food, had Spag Boll.

Next stop was the Melbourne flower show, pretty standard, actually no pretty rubbish, clearly not a patch on Chelsea, but still i expected more. One advantage was it had some lovely soaps, so i bought 10. I’m not convinced it was worth the $40 between us to get in, but in terms of living cost equivalent its probably only £20 so beats the £50 a ticket for Chelsea.

On now to Gertrude Street to find a present for Canon Webster, needed to be quirky, nothing was quirky, mostly tat. Next stop a coffee, now Peter Tregear showed me the direction of the first coffee shop in Melbourne, so in we went. Well actually we went in the one next door as the actual original looked more like a restaurant, next door is close enough.

Met Phil for the journey home, grabbed kids from school and had a rather relaxing evening (i think). It was Suzie’s birthday so Phil had cooked a nice prawny dish, very nice and very tasty.
