Tuesday 22nd February
Left Gatwick at about 1410 after a nice sit in the lounge and a lovely Qatar hostess taking us to the plane. Only six people in Business Class, so it was something of a personal service.
Champagne to start, why no toast the start of a journey, plus its probably worth about 5% of the flight cost (Thanks parents, made it a very comfortable journey). Food fantastic, the Seafood platter to start was lovely followed by scallops wrapped in dover sole, although the scallops could have been slightly better cooked. Ice Cream for dessert followed by a few beers helped the journey along. We had one of those pretty hostesses with a funny accent, more commonly known as South African, she somehow managed to drop the nuts on my lap, how apt!?
Short stopover at Doha bused to the Luxury Terminal (literally no hoi polloi allowed) and after about 30 mins called to the bus back onto the Melbourne flight. All very boring from here on, slept slept and oh watched Tamara Drew, its ok, funny i suppose. Landed at Melbourne about 10pm local and promptly disembarked. One bonus is getting off first, but don’t expect to get past through passport control in a hurry with prescription drugs, although they do inform you after you have passed through that you should have used the express lane, yeah great rub salt in the wound.
Cases collected, and then out we went to the waiting chauffeur, again the actual customs couldn’t care less about drugs, as long as they are tablets its all good. Arrived at 71 Sackville Street, Montmerency around 11pm local and after a good couple of hours chatting head down about 0100.
