Now i was in Dubai once with a good family member, in fact it was my cousin Cath. We were flying to Sydney, Australia for a slightly shorter but action packed holiday, now whilst queueing at Dubai for our next flight we caught a glimpse of this guys name tag, his name was Peter Davies. This guy was welsh, more welsh than Laura Pearson, now i like the welsh accent, and most of the welsh people but this guy was stupid.
“Have you heard the game rugby?”, Ok who you asking, some would say no but 95% would say Yeah course. So you are all thinking OK you met a welsh guy, big deal. This was no ordinary welsh guy (excuse no capitals all my welsh friends) this was a welsh guy who had somehow figured asking a Kiwi if they knew the game rugby was a good idea, it was hilarious, Cath will no doubt inform me of exactly what he said but from then on it will surely be the funniest moment experienced at an airport, now don’t call me Shirley.
What day am I writing about? OK so I did Thursday, so i think it’s time for Friday.
Today was equally leisurely in the start, no longer blaming of Colitis, it is much better, could this be a miracle? Well that reminds me, i must write a card to Tabs and her husband for making my Aussie trip possible. So yeah we rolled into town and did the City Circle tram ride, yes good guess it goes around the city, no points there sadly. Mike Jones (big version) suggested to Laura that Carlton was the place to eat, i guess as he’s at Uni two streets away he has good knowledge. We ended up in a Pizza joint, I had pizza, tantine had an omelette, all very nice.
We suddenly realised it was about 3pm and the plan was the Botanic Gardens in Melbourne (not St Kilda) and really there was no time to go there so we went to Gertrude Street to Spacecraft, a shop selling stuff like cushions and soap. Not a great description but a cool shop, I did think about buying mother a tea towel but that almost like buying an Arab some oil. The girl in the store was lovely and friendly, giving us a full account of her future travels, which include Italy and I think London etc. Sounded really cool and we of course started saying this is good, that is good, go there, blah blah blah, well it sounded like she had an action packed trip planned. Apparently the first trip out of Australia.
Anyway we had pretty much given up for the day now, it was 4pm and Phil was due out of work at 5pm and it was time for an afternoon break and a sit in the park, so tea was had and time was passed. We met Phil for the journey home and had a lovely Thai take away for dinner. I did cycle after we got home, just a 10k ride, but its bloody hilly here!
