I wrapped it in newspaper and he seemed not to mind, it’s what’s inside that counts. Off they boys went to school and Suzie started baking.

Each birthday each of the boys (not sure about Phil) gets to choose a cake they want, Will’s choice was a scary castle. Suzie obliged and started baking. It was fun to watch, a real feat of construction, with a small interlude whilst it cooled that was a trip to Ikea.

Now as Phil and Suzie have been very hospitable we thought it good to get them a present, not the usual something for the house, instead it was the not so usual but equally needed something for the house, in the form of three book cases. All from the Billy range (David has some i think). Anyway, Ikea is pretty standard, but picking anything up, a bloody nightmare, Suzie and I followed one another attempting to find this bloody loading bay, it was like something out of a cop film as we got closer but blocked by bollards or fences. Eventually after the Commodore reversed rather quickly we found the way in! Poor old tantine had been guarding the trollies.

The boys sometimes get a little tired and grouchy and things must be done or not done in certain ways. I assumed Phil was not the same, so thought i’d take the liberty of putting the bookcases together hoping he would not have a tantrum. All fine he didn’t mind, in fact he was pleased. Just about managed to do it by the time we had the table booked at ‘Maroush’ for Bill’s birthday meal. It’s a lebanese restaurant and was good, catered well for the kids and adults alike. Well worth a visit when next in Eltham.

William was well aware that at home was siting a fully iced, in all its’ glory cake, scary castle cake with turrets. So, once back home it was a verry quick happy birthday followed by cake eating, him calling Nana and describing his day and the presents, a quick chat to my Mother and then off to bed. Phil kept us entertained stacking his books on the new book shelves, I must admit it is much tidier than on the floor in boxes and hopefully helps in making a house a home.

Thursday 31st March 2011 It was Will’s birthday today, I had bought him a little something, a weird shaped ball you throw.
